For those of you who are new to The Root Cause, as a bit of background, I am a mum on a mission to Transform Children’s Health in Australia, One Lunchbox At A Time. I’m so serious that we’ve sold our house, bought a bus which we’re converting to motorhome and a mobile billboard, to raise awareness about what’s happening to children’s health in Australia. So The Root Cause Australian Tour will be taking our mission (along with our 2 kids) around Australia for 18 months.
In the early days of our idea (over 12 months ago), I was very fortunate to meet an incredible man – Rob Dallimore, Managing Director of Worldwide Printing Solutions. Rob believed in me, in my mission and our vision of taking the mission around Australia in a bus. This was way before our vision had taken solid shape, and trust me, we’ve had a few hiccups in the last 12 months too.
Rob offered for Worldwide Printing Solutions to become our National Partner, and provide us with printing and some design support as we take our mission around the country. This support is so incredible because it means every class I run for children and parents, I can give them handouts to reinforce the messages.
But let me share with you just how significant Worldwide Printing Solutions contribution is to Transforming Children’s Health in Australia.
This week, I have been in Wagga Wagga running the Mad Food Science Program for primary and preschool aged children. Worldwide Printing Solutions Warrawong (thank you Amy & Tim) printed my supply of handouts for these and my classes in July and August.
Yesterday, I got a message from a mum telling me that her children had gone home and used the handouts I gave her children to show her which fruit and vegetables they wanted to include in their lunchbox.
I seriously had tears of happiness – you know those sort that start with a tingle in your nose and hurt the back of your throat. Yep, those kind of tears of happiness.
To know these children went home and took on one of the ‘experiments’ I set them – to choose one fruit and one vegetable from each colour of the rainbow and they were able to do this because of the handouts Worldwide Printing Solutions very generously donated to our mission.
These handouts provided by Worldwide Printing Solutions mean the conversation about real food is continuing at home, with their parents, in an collaborative manner – rather than the usual parent child power struggle. Without these handouts, the conversation could have quite easily stopped in the classroom.
Please let me share a couple of other examples too. Another mum told me she was using one of the recipe handouts I give out at parent workshops.
The preschool children were so excited by the stickers I left them. And they were proudly telling me they were packing their taste testing sheets in their bag so show their mum what fruit and vegetables they tried today. You see a big focus of this class is to get children to understand the taste buds on their tongue are what taste food and not their eyes. They are encouraged to try the different fruit and vegetables and even if they didn’t like it, to circle the unhappy face on the taste testing chart (and happy face if they did) – this way they can show their mum they used their tongues to taste today. Again, continuing the conversation at home.
I am 100% confident that Worldwide Printing Solutions support is paramount to the success of my education programs. Their printed materials help keep the conversation going at home- this is when change really happens.
So this post is my dedication to Rob, and Worldwide Printing Solutions outlets all over Australia. From the bottom of my heart, I thank you for your belief in me and our mission. We so honoured to show your logo loud and proud on our BIG green bus and trailer as we travel all around Australia.
And to all of you reading this, thank you for your support too. I’d really love for you to support Worldwide Printing Solutions for your printing, design and promotional material needs. Check out all the great services they offer here.
