KERRY COLEMAN

Certified Instructor

Kerry is a retired teacher (Bachelor of Learning Management Early Childhood) and Healthy Families consultant who loves to talk about supporting young children through their early years of growth, development and education.

She is a mum of two grown up children and enjoyed home-schooling them in Far South Tasmania and on a cruising boat! Her lifelong interest in food and how it impacts on health and wellbeing became more focused when her husband became ill with cancer at just 47 years of age.

Under the guidance of a naturopath, she and her young family changed their food habits in order to preserve her husband’s health. Along the way, Kerry battled with health issues of her own, including headaches and eczema. Eating the way her husband needed to eat didn’t suit her at all.

Later on, when studying to become a health coach, Kerry learned about bio-individuality and this confirmed what she had learned through her own experience. There is not one way that suits everybody.

Kerry left teaching at the end of 2019 and wrote a book The Superpower Lunchbox advocating for children to be fed more nourishing foods in their lunchboxes and less processed foods after observing the impacts of typical 'lunchbox foods' on children's behaviour in the classroom. Towards the end of writing, she discovered The Root Cause and signed up to train as an instructor to help take that message into schools across Tasmania.

Kerry is available to run The Mad Food Science Incursion in schools and at community events, neighbourhood houses and for one-on-one consultations and small group programs.

When she is not working or studying, Kerry loves to go bushwalking and taking photographs in Tassie’s beautiful National Parks

Favourite Recipe

Kerry’s Super Salads are her favourite recipe. Everything goes into them! They were one of the first meals that started to help heal her eczema, so they will always be a great addition to her foodie day. Once an enthusiastic cook of complex recipes, she now prefers to keep it simple – and health wise!
