Kids Excited About Eating Fruits and Vegetables! Who would of thought that would happen? Well it is at Cambewarra Public School where we will be running The Real Food Lunchbox Project in Term 4 of this year.
If you don’t know what The Real Food Lunchbox Project is about, you can learn a lot more about it here. But in a nut shell, it’s an 8 week study looking at what happens for a whole school when processed packaged foods are replaced with real food of fruits, veggies dips and smoothies for recess and snacks, and a wholesome main lunch.
The project will measure the changes in the classroom on concentration, focus on task, behaviour, detention and impact on school yard rubbish.
The project is an extension of a series of studies conducted at the school over the past 12 months. This has included consultation with parents too.
We fully expect the project will replicate the results from the single class studies conducted. There are:
- improved focus in class
- improved behaviour and socialisation skills
- children trying new fruits and vegetables, even when their parents said they wouldn’t try them
- children ate more fruits and vegetables at home following the study

The Root Cause is running a Crowdfunding Campaign to raise $9,900 to cover the cost of the fresh produce for the project. The students of Cambewarra Primary School are actively following the crowdfunding campaign and are getting excited about seeing the target getting closer.
Can You Help To Excite The Kids?
Thanks so much for your support.
