Tired of being "that mum"?
I want to acknowledge you for being here as part of this community. Over the last 11 years, I have lost track of how many mums have said to me that they don't want to be "that mum." It happened again at a parent seminar this week. You know:
That mum who takes oranges to sport on the weekend instead of the bag of snakes.
That mum who packs fresh veg and fruit as snacks in the school lunchbox.
That mum who wants to see more nourishing food on the canteen menu.
That mum who takes homemade snacks and fruit / veg when going to the park with other families.
That mum who is constantly the worst mum because you prefer to offer mostly nourishing foods to yours and other children.
Welcome to my TedTalk! Keep being that mum.
Stand proud and tall of being that mum.
You are that mum who is making a difference to the health of your child.
You are that mum whose child will grow up and cook for themselves.
You are that mum whose child will grow up and share their love of food made at home with others.
You are that mum whose child may well become a parent and nourish their children (your grandchildren) with foods from nature.
You are that mum whose child may go on to be a leader in education, politics or another field that helps change the lives of other people.
Stand proud and tall of being that mum.
And here's why:
🔥The science is now irrefutable.
Ultra-processed food has been directly linked to mental health and a wide range of chronic conditions.
There is also early evidence starting to emerge to indicate ultra-processed food may be at the root cause of dementia and alzheimers. Can you even imagine what this means for a generation of kids who are eating ultra processed food every single day? 🔥
"My child loved the incursion yesterday and told us all about the fruit rainbow. She was very excited to go shopping after school and choose fruit/veggies of each colour for her lunchboxes. Thanks for getting her interested in good nutrition and eating a better variety in her lunchbox."
We make it easier for you to be "that mum" by making food a fun experiment. Children respond to our messages positively. They go home and tell you all the things you have probably been telling them but now they are ready to go along with you.
