It’s with great excitement that Indrani, Bel and I announce we’re holding an Online Screening of That Sugar Film on Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th September 2015. (That’s next weekend, people.)
All proceeds from ticket sales will go to a charity project Indrani and I are supporting, called Send Me To School. It’s a social experiment by The Misfit Foundation designed to give children in one of the world’s poorest areas access to decent education. These kids are the same age as our kids Indrani and Rilien, but have hardly any opportunities for quality school facilities.
“It is a very entertaining and interesting film to watch. I learned about all the sorts of sugars and what they do,” said 9 year-old Indrani.
In case you’ve never heard of it, That Sugar Film is a recently-released film by Australian director and actor Damon Gameau, following his journey to discover the bitter truth about sugar. In the film, Damon embarks on a unique experiment to document the effects of a high sugar diet on a healthy body, consuming only foods that are commonly perceived as ‘healthy’.
Bel and I saw a premiere screening, and then took the kids (Indrani and Rilien) to see it again. Both of them loved it and took away plenty of great messages about sugar, and what it does to your body.
We’re thrilled to bring it to you and your families, in the comfort of your own home, through this special online screening event.
All the details:
DATES: Saturday 5th & Sunday 6th September
The online screening will be available throughout the weekend.

One ticket gives you the chance to watch it all together. That’s cheaper than a regular movie ticket for one adult!
WHERE: Online, in your own home!
When you buy a ticket, you’ll be emailed a special link and password.
Where does the money go?
Great question. We want to be 100% transparent about the costs of this fundraiser, and make sure you know where every dollar goes.
“That Sugar Film” will cost us $220 for the online screening copy. Bel and I are paying for this up front, but we need to recoup those costs, so until the fundraiser earns more than $220, no money goes to Uganda. This is why it’s great if you can share this Online Movie Night with your friends and family – there are no limits to ticket numbers, so please invite them to participate too!
Every dollar raised above $220 will be forwarded on directly to the Misfit Foundation and the “Send Me To School” campaign, and 100% of funds go to build better school facilities for these kids.
So we can track who buys a ticket and who is entitled to receive the screening website link and password, we are using a shopping cart that puts the money into our business PayPal account. Once we’ve sold all the tickets and run the screening, we will publish how many tickets were sold and how much was raised for the primary school kids in Uganda. We will then transfer the full amount (less $220) to the fundraiser site.
