It's with much excitement that I write this newsletter. It's raining here. It might sound odd to be excited about rain, but we haven't had a good rain since April. We live off rain water tanks and they have been getting lower and lower - down to 50%. And for the last 3 weeks, our little town has been surrounded by bush fires.
The rain is more than welcomed.
As well as being excited about the rain, this week I am super excited to share what we have been working away on for months (and months) and share another time saving tip.
At The Root Cause, we pride ourselves on being part of our communities at the grass roots level. We are always on the look out for what is helping and what is hindering people in their efforts to Stand for Children's Health.
Over the past 3 years, we have observed:
🥲a significant drop off in parent engagement in schools, with many schools reporting since Covid, it's been difficult to get parents back involved in school activities.
🥲🥲parents and teachers having a negative reaction to the word health - some instantly fear there is judgement attached to it, others fear learning information that will mean change.
🥲🥲🥲parents are feeling increasingly stressed about feeding their family. Words they use to describe how they FEEL about feeding their family includes:
Since feeding our family is a constant (it’s something we need to do), wouldn’t it be great if it could be more enjoyable?
This is why I am excited.Introducing Making Friends with Food by The Root Cause
Drawing from our extensive experience collaborating with 70 schools for a year or more through the Children's Health Program (CHP) and our decade-long work with 260 schools across Australia, we've rebranded the program as "Making Friends with Food by The Root Cause." (MFWF)
MFWF is an extension of the work we have been doing with the CHP and our partner schools. It is a natural progression of our work. The program has all the features of the CHP plus we have included some additional data pieces that allow us to better support parents and assist schools with goal setting.
❤️MFWF is about creating lifelong nourishing friendships with food.❤️
MFWF focusses on:
🔬Making food a fun experiment for kids, so they are happy to explore a wide variety of food.
💪Making it easier for parents to feed their family and feel good about it.
⚙️Making food an improvement tool for schools.
I am so in love with this work and what we have created. Please go and check out our new beautiful Making Friends With Food website.
🙏I would really love your support in Standing for Children's Health. Here's how you can help.🙏
Right now, schools are going into their planning cycle for 2024 initiatives. Schools are always WAY more receptive to programs when they hear about it from parents.
The best way for you to help is to make an enquiry and download the brochure. Then one of incredible Certified Instructors will call you and chat about what's going on at your school and about what's next.
