Gosh I have experienced so many tears of absolute joy since our last newsletter. I even had some again as I write about it in this newsletter.
Indrani managed to get tickets to Taylor Swift from a friend of a friend. They were cheap tickets and in what is considered the nose bleed seats of the MCG, but they were better than the zero tickets we had before.
Before the concert, I would say I probably knew a handful of songs but I paid for a ticket and a flight so I could spend some quality one on one time with our girl. I will seize every moment I can with her before she leaves to go to USA in June.
From the moment we boarded the flight to Melbourne, I just knew this experience was going to be one of a lifetime.
The Rex Cabin Crew welcomed the Travelling Swifties, wore pink sunglasses and made references to a few of Tay Tay's songs. I looked across at Indrani, and the size of her smile just blew me away. Her excitement was palpable. I cried. There's just something magical about seeing your kids experience this level of excitement.
At Melbourne airport as we waited for the SkyBus, we met and spoke to so many people going to the concert. The excitement was fever pitch. Again, tears - just hearing Indrani talk about outfits, friendship bracelets and the different songs - mind blowing.
BUT, nothing could prepare me for the experience of enjoying the concert with her. Taylor was nothing short of brilliant. I have a new found respect and love for her.
With all the bad stuff going on in this world, I honour Taylor Swift for doing what she loves and holding 96,000 people lovingly in her hand, unifying them with her music.
There was so so so much joy at that event. Beyond what I have ever experienced in my 55 years of life. And I’ve see some pretty damn incredible acts in my lifetime (INXS, Rolling Stones, midnight oil, Wham, Culture Club, Michael Jackson, Elvis Costello, Eurythmics, Prince, Powder Finger, Cold Chisel, Silver Chair and loads more).
This one woman stood for so much. And she brought 96,000 people along with her.
Watching Indrani singing her lungs out, exchanging friendship bracelets and details with people she only met that night and hearing a stadium full of people sing along with her was nothing short of incredible.
On the flight home, I watched back the many (many, many) videos I took that night, and I just wanted to share it with me. It's 96,000people singing along to Cruel Summer and the bridge to the song. Words can not even explain the euphoria in the stadium. I'm watching now as I am typing and again I am crying. I hope you enjoy the video.
