Sunday 21st January 1pm AEDT – Cook-Along – Pack Your Own Lunchbox
This is a great starting point for children who may not be yet packing their own lunchboxes and a great refresher for those who are already doing this in preparation for the year ahead.
It’s not all your job. Make 2024 different. This year, empower your kids to pack their own lunchbox. Even if it’s not everyday, a couple of days a week is better than you doing it all.
Bel will take you and your children through how the the food we eat can affect how we feel, and therefore the food is packed in lunchboxes affects how concentration, behaviour and learning at school. These are the reasons why the food in your school lunchbox is so important.
Then you can practice so that when school goes back, you and your family can pack the lunch that they want to take to school, knowing why it is so important.
In this cook-along we will have conversations about
- the ingredients,
- kitchen safety when cooking with hot temperatures, and
- about foods nourish our body for energy and learning.

Here are some of the benefits of attending a Cook-Along for yourself and your family:
🤝 Connection with other families over cooking. We banter, we laugh, we talk about ingredients and more.
❤️ Improved relationship with you. When you’re in the kitchen, guiding your child, but trusting them with a meal for the family, is something magical.
🏳️🌈 Increased self confidence Every time they cook something, their self confidence increases. They become more prepared and more excited to put themselves out there and try new things.
🥗 Improved relationship to food. Cooking helps to develop an appreciation for the different ingredients, to textures, the flavours, and creates a willingness to try foods.
🔪 Development of kitchen techniques. Understanding the difference between slicing and dicing, sauteeing and simmering etc.
👩👦 Improved appreciation of you. Kids learn what it takes to turn out a meal for breakfast lunch and dinner. They realise it’s not instantaneous, that it takes effort and love to make it happen.
