Since we’ve been in Newcastle to run our workshops with the Awabakal Aboriginal Community, I have been putting out a few feelers to media for a possible radio interview, to raise awareness about what we’ve been up to.
One of the responses came from Jill Emberson – host of the 1233 ABC Newcastle Mornings program on 1233 AM. Jill was curious about what we were doing, and why, and was really interested in interviewing us live on air with someone who could share first-hand experience of our workshops.
Bel suggested Renee Smith (no relation!) – the Director of MACS Childcare Service at Awabakal. Renee had hosted The Mad Food Science Program™ at her Childcare centre the previous week, and her centre had already implemented some fabulous changes in how they discuss food with their kids.
So Renee, Bel and I were interviewed by Jill on the radio just before 9am on Thursday 21st October 2015. Here’s the show:
