These carrot energy bliss balls are one of the taste tests we do in our Early Learning Centre Mad Food Science Experience. I also include it at the end of my community workshops. They are a great way of engaging the kids in a tactile experience of making their own snack.
Here's how I engage young kids with this experience. I make the mixture, then give them a large teaspoon full so they can roll it in a ball themselves. Then I give them a little cup with some desiccated coconut in it. They pop the ball in the cup, put a hand over the top of the cup and shake it. Then they get to eat it.
For older kids, you could supervise them using a food processor to make these from scratch.
There's a bonus that this recipe makes about 30 balls so you can pop them in the freezer and build up a freezer stash for when school returns.
