Little Bags of Self Care - A Sunday Ritual
I’ve shared this before but I’m going to share this again because as I used one tonight, I once again thanked my past self for the prep I did on the weekend.
Just about every meal I make starts with the following ingredients as a base.
onion
garlic
ginger
carrot
celery
On Sunday I chop and prep between 2-5 days worth of these little bags of self care. Then I pop them in the freezer then pull out when I need them. Straight into pan or slow cooker.
I call them bags of self care because they help me start our evening meal with no fuss. I makes getting dinner started a breeze.
On Sunday when I’m negotiating with myself about "do I really have to prep?", I remind myself that this 15-20min activity is self care for my future self. I’m taking preemptive action to minimise my stress the week ahead.
I'm super excited for the week ahead. I'm heading off to Charleville in SW Qld for a week.
This year I will be partnering for 12 months with local schools - St Mary's School and Charleville State School, and C&K Kindy as they host The Children's Health Program for their school communities.
It's super exciting because the 3 schools have agreed to work together to develop a common set of food values that they'll all work towards this year, and we will be having one community session for parents too.
I love that the educators in the region have come together to Stand for Children's Health.
I would like to publicly acknowledge the role SW Qld Health & Hospital Service and the Murweh Shire Council have played in helping to make this happen. They have funded my travel and accomodation costs for the week.
How blessed am I that I get to do this work?
I've just done a quick tally of our Schools Impact board and based on our current school bookings, we're already set to empower more than 8,000 children this year. Will you help us hit 10,000? Enquire here about bringing The Children's Health Program to your school this year. Thanks for Standing With Us!
Last week I also opened the doors to the Certified Instructor Training Program. The spots in the program are limited and I only run one training program per year. If you want to run your own business, doing work that lights you up and has an impact on Children's Health, and you missed the Certified Instructor Information Session, you can watch the replay here.
If you wish to apply for one of the prized positions, you can apply now. Applications are open until 17th Feb. Just to be clear, applying is not a commitment on either your part or mine, it's just an opportunity for you to have some one on one time with me to ask your questions and for us both to work out if the program is a good fit for you. Click here to apply to be a Certified Instructor.
And as if that isn't enough excitement for one week, this week I'm sharing some great time saving tips to help make your life easier. This time saving tips will help you get real food meals to the table quicker. Enjoy the rest of the read. Be sure to hit reply and let me know how you are going and what you need support with.
